B.F.D. Firehouse Studios: Walter Kenul and Janet Rutkowski
Sculpture, Architectural Metals, and Functional Art

B.F.D. Firehouse Studios originated in the 1980's in a restored firehouse in Brooklyn. Husband
and wife team, Walter Kenul and Janet Rutkowski, have now moved their studio to Barryville, NY
in Sullivan County.  Together, they bring 30 years’ experience to their work, and are skilled at
working with a variety of materials, including wood, stone, metal, clay, glass, and resins.  Their
product line includes sculpture, furniture, architectural metals and interiors.

B.F.D. Firehouse Studios has been featured in The Currents section of the New York Times.
“Oracle", a sculptural seating, has been in many newspapers and was featured in the catalogue
for The International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Jacob Javitz Center in NYC.  Their
many commissions include sculptural display cases for Judith Ripka Jewelry on Madison
Avenue; a copper and steel sign for Two Do Salon on the Upper West Side; and ornamental
window guards for Manhattan Medical Center in Brooklyn.  They have exhibited throughout NYC,
Williamsburg in Brooklyn, and Sullivan County.

“We work in different styles and mediums in order to accomplish our artistic visions.  Whether it
is the purity of sculpture, a highly stylized dining set or a beautiful railing of glass sunflowers set into ornamental scroll-work, we put our creativity and love into each project."

B.F.D. Firehouse studios accepts commissioned work, and also has works available for sale.
