Carla Giuffrida
Fiber Artist
Carla is an accomplished knitter, weaver, spinner and dyer. She has always had a passion for
fiber arts, starting as a child creating doll clothes. She owned Coulter Studios in New York City
for many years—one of the first yarn stores in the country that specialized in natural fibers,
imported yarns, and unique designer knitting patterns. Her weaving and knitting designs have
been published in three books, the latest being Silk Knits by Martingale Press.
Color and texture are the primary focus of Carla’s woven and knitted pieces, and she loves to
share her knowledge and help others find the joy and meditative benefits of creating beautiful
things with fiber. She teaches fiber arts at the Homestead School in Glen Spey, NY, where the
children learn to enjoy knitting, spinning, weaving and dyeing their yarn with rainbows of color.
She now also brings her expertise to The Four Corners shop in Narrowsburg, NY, where she has
set up a beautiful yarn collection along with patterns and all the other supplies for knitting and
crocheting. She also assists with yarn and pattern selection.
Carla teaches classes for adults and children, both at the Four Corners as well as at her home in
Yulan, NY. Demonstrations, consultation and private lessons may also be arranged. Her works
are sometimes available through the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Four Corners in
Narrowsburg, NY, and privately.
Carla is a member of the Woodland Weavers and Spinners Guild in Damascus, PA.
