Painter
A native New Yorker, Erika presently lives in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. She is also a longtime
and frequent visitor to the Barryville area.
Erika is Executive Director of the Gallery School of Pottstown, a non-profit community art school
and gallery. Erika also serves on the board of directors for Preservation Pottstown, sits on the
Schuylkill River Festival committee and The Pottstown Arts & Cultural Alliance committee.
Erika has been working in various mediums since attending high school in Greenwich Village.
She has attended classes at Hofstra University, Lehman College, and Ulster Community College and has taken classes at West Chester Art Association and the Anvil Studio. She enjoys
creating impressionist style works in oils and pastels and has recently started experimenting
with glass fusing and painting with frit. Her style references her family’s roots in the rural areas
in Northern Germany.
She has been teaching art classes at Brookeside Montessori for over six years, at Creative
Health Children's Partial and also teaches kids' and teen classes at The Gallery School of
Pottstown. Her instruction is built around building confidence and vision with her students.
Erika had a one woman show at the Anvil Studio in 1996 and occasionally exhibits at Arts
Upstairs in Phoenicia, New York, and the Gallery School of Pottstown.
