Yolanda Riggle
Yolanda has been a student of art for most of her life. Her Mother, Madeline Flores, is an artist
and her late Father, Raymond J. Flores, a playwright. He founded “Around the Block” which
is a workshop for up and coming playwrights in NYC. Yolanda wrote and performed the music
for his musicals, “Juan Bobo” and “Up from Graffiti”.
While still a teenager, she studied under Harold Stevenson’s Academy of Art (Harold Stevenson’s
teacher studied under Norman Rockwell). She pursued a Fine Arts Degree at Nassau Community
College on Long Island, attended classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology and at the HB
Studios in NYC. After raising a family she was able to finish her degree in Graphic Arts at SUNY
Orange County Community College. She then went on for her Bachelors of Science degree in
Human Development at Empire State.
Yolanda has volunteered her time and various talents in art, music and writing, and has worked
as a reporter for the River Reporter in which she wrote reviews and also submitted photographs
for her articles. She is currently working as a counselor while continuing with her art and
music.
Yolanda’s mission in art is to express movement. She believes that there are levels of energies
that we can consciously use to provide movement however many are unconsciously directing our
lives. These are the energies that she hopes to capture for her own and for others observation.
Yolanda is devoted to daily prayer and meditation which has brought her to this place in her life
and given her the ability to share creatively and lovingly with those around her.
