Our 2017 Plein Air Adventures offer artists and art-lovers the chance to celebrate life as they never have before.  Painting events will take place both day and night, and along lakes and rivers.  We’ll provide supplies and complimentary refreshments.  Many of these events will also have live music.

Artists of all levels are invited; we provide a facilitator for beginners, plus all the supplies you’ll need.  Experienced artists are welcome to bring their own set-ups and supplies.  

Participating artists will have several opportunities to show off the work they created, in at least three Receptions in different parts of Sullivan County.  Details on each adventure will be posted here as they become available.  Or e-mail us at barryvilleareaarts@gmail.com, and we’ll put you on the list to get all updates.

BAAA is eternally grateful to ECCE Bed and Breakfast for loaning us their breathtaking view for our final Plein Air Adventure of 2017.   Because of the hospitality of hosts Alan and Kurt, ECCE has received the 2017 Travelers' Choice Award from Trip Advisor, and been rated the #1 B&B in New York State.

Reception at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum's Wulff Gallery--Kelly Buchta gave a great talk about how plein air artists and catch-and-release fishers are kindred spirits, and we were treated to live music by Nick Roes.  

The Exhibits included a collection of prints featuring the history of plein air painting, a group exhibit of local plein air artists, and work created at our Plein Air la Nuit painting party.

Plein Air La Nuit--A dozen artists gathered on private property along the Delaware River in Callicoon, NY.  Alexis Siroc gave beginners some pointers, and experienced artists like Gregory Pelly and Ari Mir-Pontier created plein air masterpieces.

Access to privately owned property on Kenoza Lake is just one of the things that will make this Event so much fun.  Artists will have difficulty deciding where to set up, as a babbling brook, tranquil lagoon, and the majestic lake offer so many breathtaking views.

We'll have complimentary luch provided, with a facilitator and art supplies on site.

The Jeffersonville Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library will be offering a special program and hosting a reception from 1 - 3 PM on July 29, 2017.

Enjoy complimentary refreshments and outdoor art created at a painting party in Kenoza Lake. PLUS, hear County Historian John Conway separate the facts from the fiction about Kenoza Lake's famous "Hex Murder".

John will be making a brief presentation on the history of Kenoza Lake, followed by an art exhibit that includes the work of some of the areas most talented plein air artists.
